The Dance Academy is a unique project for young people who are not at school, college or on a training course or who are currently unemployed. The Academy runs from 17 May to 21 July and sessions take place five days a week at a venue in Kings Cross.
By joining the Dance Academy you become part of a genuine dance company.
Each day, you will take part in a dance class. This will improve your strength, flexibility and fitness. You will also have the opportunity to try a whole range of exciting activities both in and out of the dance studio over the weeks, develop new skills, meet new people, perform on stage and gain a qualification.
The Dance Academy Programme
- Week 1 to 3 Intensive rehearsal period leading to a performance.
- Week 4: Performance Perform your piece in a professional theatre.
- Week 5: Schools project Teach in a primary school children, and lead a dance session as part of a group.
- Week 6: Choreography Working with a professional choreographer to learn a piece of dance in preparation for graduation.
- Week 9 & 10: Rehearsals Preparation for Graduation performance.
- Week 11: Graduation. Showcase for the work you have done over the three months of the Academy.
