Hackney Cook-Up Club

Cook-up club at Wick Festival

Over the summer, the Hackney Cook-Up Club became the No.1 catering firm for Young Hackney events.

The ten members of the club provided the refreshments for both Screenings with Meaning and the Young Hackney basketball tournament, but now they're branching out from the barbeques.

Their latest initiative has been to run a cake stall at the Hackney Wick Festival (last week). All the money raised through sales will be spent on new equipment for Fellows Court (where the club is based).

The club is planning a special Cook-Up celebration of Black History Month and, in partnership with the Tenants and Residents Association, a Christmas party for the estate community.

The club runs every Wednesday and Friday (click here for more information). If you're interested in joining, email: natasha.daniel@hackney.gov.uk
