Hackney Diaries: call for talent

Space Arts are producing a short film in Hackney using the energy and resources of the borough’s young people as a starting point.

It's a non-budget but professional project, and they are looking for people who are really serious about breaking into TV and film.

What they are looking for:

For Production

Young people 18-25 who are willing to work in all aspects of production. This will involve running rehearsals, administration, location scouting, scheduling, casting, assisting director and camera, running, publicity,  and many other aspect of filmaking.

You will work in pre-production across the roles before you are assigned a role for the production itself. Some previous video making training and/or experience is preferred.

For Performance

Young people 16-20 who want to take part in a serious film project. This will include drama workshop (in order to develop the idea), plus rehearsals and performance.

For all roles the film-makers will be asking for a twice weekly commitment in pre-production right through to the production and post-production process, running from Monday April 18th, through to the filming week of May 30th – Jun 3rd (half term).

What they offer

The film-makers will mentor production staff in all aspects of filmmaking, from pre to post production, focusing on their specific areas of interest, including directing camera and editing.  The film will have a private viewing, plus all participants will receive a DVD, and the hope is to submit the film for international film festivals.
