Are you are aged 18+ living in Hackney? Would like the chance to perform in our community cast as part of Barbican Offsite this autumn in your local area?
Hydrocracker Theatre Company will be staging their highly acclaimed site-specific production, The New World Order at ShoreditchTown Hall as part of the Barbican’s Offsite Season of work in November and December and are looking for 15 Hackney residents to join our Volunteer Community Cast.
The Production
Originally commissioned by Brighton Festival and premiered in May 2007, The New World Order is a hard-hitting amalgamation of five of Harold Pinter’s later and more political plays: One for the Road, The New World Order, Precisely, Mountain Language and Press Conference. The New World Order is an examination of political oppression, torture, and the mechanics of "what is done in our name” and will be presented in London with partners Amnesty International.
‘A shattering experience that brings Pinter’s world directly home’ The Guardian *****
‘The sense of being trapped within a brutal state machine builds and intensifies during this brilliant site-specific production’ The Independent *****
Who can apply?
We are looking to recruit 15 enthusiastic individuals aged 18+ from the local community of Hackney to form our volunteer community cast performing a range of small parts in the production alongside the core cast of seven professional actors. Previous theatre experience is not essential and all applications are welcome.
An audition workshop will be held at the Barbican on Sunday 9th October. Selected community cast members will need to commit to a run of rehearsals and performances throughout October, plus performances in November and December.
This is not a paid opportunity. We are able to cover basic travel expenses and will be providing free training workshops exploring vocal and physical theatre techniques.
