The wait is finally over! All thirty-three miners have been successfully rescued from Chile mines. The miners have been stuck underground for more than two months, causing despair and anxiety amongst their families. Many families sat near the mines where their husbands, uncles, nephews, fathers or brothers remained trapped.
Chilean engineers produced a tried and tested mechanism to rescue the miners from the mine. The successful mechanism was built diagonally to reduce the risk of the mechanism insufficiently travelling to and fro to release the miners from unsuitable backgrounds. Engineers tested the device on several occasions to ensure that any defects can be adjusted. It travels just under a meter per minute, equating to fifteen minutes to relieve each minor from such conditions.
Avalos, 31 was the first minor to be released. One can only imagine what their thoughts may have been during their moments until rescued. Some of the miners’ first movements consisted in jumps for joy and other knelt down to give thanks.
Thankfully no one was badly injured. Every minor stuck in the mines was healthy however they were all taken to hospital for two days as a precaution. Medical practitioners wanted to ensure all survivors had not developed any illness during this unfortunate experience.
