One last chance to get £5000

posted by: Administrator

Young Hackney has set aside nearly £50,000 to award to youth projects through the Hackney Youth Opportunity Fund – and we want every penny of that money spent on youth projects run by young people for young people.

The good news is – the deadline for applications has now been extended to 2 December, so you still have time to get together with a group of like-minded people and get your bid in… there's up to £5000 available for each project that is approved.

What kinds of projects does YOF fund?

LOLMusic, film and fashion: Hackney Shed Theatre Company production, Hackney Jam, Discover Your Potential, LoL Comedy Showcase (pictured), OurSpace Fashion Workshops, African Arts & Drama Workshops, Show Love Fashion Event and countless other arts, drama and multimedia projects - all made possible by the Youth Opportunity Fund.

Laburnum in NepalResidentials abroad Hackney Quest took a trip to Cape Town using money from Hackney YOF and Laburnum used the money to part-fund a canoeing and kaykaying adventure to Nepal  (pictured here, on top of the world!). The Hackney Youth Parliament used their funding to see Barak Obama on the campaign trail and find out more about US democracy.

Youth Events like One Hackney, which combined personal safety workshops and an anti knife-crime message; and Sports events like the Street Level 5k Challenge; You Got Game at the One Movement Festival or Gems Football have all been funded through Hackney YOF.

How do I apply?

All the forms, information, guidance notes, everything you need basically, is available on the Youth Opportunity Fund pages.

Make sure you read through the Guidance Notes carefully, and take time to fill out the application form, so your idea stands out from the rest!
