Stop smoking - start living

Stop smoking and start living

Did you know that March 9 is National No Smoking day?

If you are a smoker, even if you haven't been smoking very long, you may have thought about giving up. You'll already know that smoking damages your health, but there are good reasons to give up:

  • it's good for your wallet, even if you only smoke 10 a day you'll end up spending up £1,200 a year on cigarettes - that's a lot of cash you could be spending on other stuff
  • smoking makes you look older - that's right, it gives you wrinkles
  • although only one in five of the population is a smoker two thirds of people who smoke say they want to give up - so you're not alone!

If you're worried about giving up, there's help out there. NHS City and Hackney will be running their 'Stop while you Shop' stall at Kingsland Shopping Centre every Monday and Thursday, 3pm until 7pm, until 28 April. They'll be able to give you advice about the best way of giving up, and once you've quit, how to remain a non-smoker.
