The soaring Ghanaian international football player, Asamoah Gyan became the latest member of Sunderland’s football team on the 31st of August 2010. Gyan, signed for £13million is expected to do spectacular things for his new team and fans. Supported by many denominations, he is the shinning star of Africa known to have driven Ghana towards their success in the world cup in 2010.
The striker grabbed the attention of many including the Russians in 2006 during the FIFA World Cup scoring the fastest goal in just 68 seconds. This occasion also marked Ghana’s (The Black Star’s) first goal in the world cup against Czech Republic.
In addition, The Black Star’s progress in this year’s world cup has been phenomenal! His goal in injury time placed Ghana ahead of USA, contributing to their position in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Sadly, Ghana’s defeat by Uruguay in a 4-2 penalty shoot out ended their hopes of getting into the final to win the World Cup. Although they did not win, the publicity received from the media has brought much positivity to the country and its civilians.
Gyan is keen to put that penalty miss behind him as he hopes to succeed playing for his first Premier League football team. The Sunderland player has not stopped there, releasing a song with Ghana’s established hip-life artist Castro The Destroyer using the alias ‘Baby Jet’ he performs his signature football victory dance. Check it out below…Enjoy!
