Serious about a career in media?  Want to drive the advertising plan for a whole youth arts festival?

What is DYH Media? : It’s a board of young directors that get to make big decisions about Discover Young Hackney's advertising and communications plan for 2012.

Who’s it for? Eight lucky  16 – 19’s from Hackney with a passion for media. You don’t need experience but you do need creative ideas and commitment.

What will you get? We’re not messing around – we’ll get you into and in front of  important people working in the media. You will:

  • choose the message and design for this year's festival + have a say on how the marketing budget is spent
  • get a media mentor
  • develop new skills; advertising message,  blogging, presenting and strategy
  • receive 1-2-1 support to help develop your CV or portfolio
  • go on three visits to creative businesses including Europe’s largest magazine publisher,  IPC Media and Mother Advertising

What’s the commitment? Ten evening sessions between now and February and you MUST attend a minimum of seven. You’ll also be asked to help us promote in your school, meet media professionals at their work and snoop around local youth media groups.

How do you apply? There are only eight places and deadline for applications is 20th September

  • Step 1: Get  recommended by someone by emailing lucy@yhworld.co.uk <mailto:lucy@yhworld.co.uk>  with your CV and a statement as to why YOU are a media genius.
  • Step  2: Please ask them to state if your skills are ; images, strategy, words or  promotion & remember - If you blog, twitter, take photos or video  this is an advantage include this in your CV.
  • Step 3 : If you’re  successful you’ll be called into an interview.
