Lavinia's Blog: A Young Entrepreneur
posted by: Lavinia Gyamfuah
In connection with my previous blog on entrepreneurship, I would like to dedicate this blog to a young entrepreneur, Mr Stephan Eyeson.
During the summer holidays, I was fortunate enough to spend the day with Mr Eyeson and experience his irregular and hectic schedule as an entrepreneur. Mr Eyeson just 21, has launched a business whilst juggling a joint honours’ degree in Theology and Health Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University.
His first business, ‘GetProBasketball’ launched in February 2010 as an online network for unprofessional basketball players to get scouted by coaches. Players upload an online profile package depending on their needs to appeal to coaches. The concept derived from his inability to play professionally in America after his college delayed sending his results to his preferred university.
Stephan began his journey with his mentor, Nigel. Nigel gave him stacks of books to read on Internet marketing to develop his understanding. Stephan then went to Angels Den (a similar version of Dragon’s Den) to seek investment in his idea. GetProBasketball now receives hundreds of visit per day as players, agents and coaches sign up to increase their basketball portfolio. They aim to ensure members get exposure at an affordable price.

Lastly, the young businessman plays a major position in my business career as my mentor. There are endless opportunities to fill gaps in the market according to your consumers’ demands, it’s get a matter of getting out there.
“Business does not take a break therefore you should not!”
