Young Hackney Stoke Newington young people's centre is for anyone in Stoke Newington aged between 13 and 19. A Junior youth club is also being organised for young people aged 11-13 years.

It's a safe and welcoming place for you to go, with plenty going on: music, media, drama and sport, dance, cooking and more. You'll also be able to get advice on education, training and employment, health, family and relationship matters.

Regular opening hours are currently Tuesday – Friday after school until 9pm. From 3.30pm you can access the building for homework support or conducting job searches, with youth club sessions starting at 6pm.

How have young people been involved?

It was through the efforts of a group of young people, the Myplace Participation Group, that Hackney Council raised the funds for the new centre. The group asked young people in Hackney what they wanted out of the new centre. Young people in Stoke Newington told them they wanted:

  • To get young people off street corners and into clubs where they can take part in positive activities
  • To change the negative perceptions that people have of Hackney and young people within the borough
  • Achieve a mindshift in young people: to convince them there’s more than one path in life.

The group made a presentation to the Myplace funding panel, and it was through their hard work that Hackney Council received nearly £500k to build the new centre.
