London Borough Hackney has announced details of it's 'Youth Offer' - a statement of aspiration to support all young people in Hackney. You can read the statement below and find details on facilities, projects and activities which help deliver these goals in the 'What's On' pages of this website.

“In our Community Strategy, we describe our aspiration to support all children and young people, to build on their strengths and potential, to increase their life chances, contribute to and benefit from Hackney becoming a borough renowned for diversity, tolerance, inclusiveness and vibrancy.

Hackney’s Children and Young People Plan commits us to supporting young people to feel good about themselves and about their diverse heritage and to feed their ambitions and aspirations.

This Youth Offer pledges that all young people will have equal and fair access to our services for young people. These will give young people 13-19:

  • a range of youth activities within ½ a mile of your home
  • access to 2 hours a week of activities in clubs, groups or classes including after school activities
  • opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills recognised where possible through accreditation
  • access to 2 hours per week of cultural activities, including music, dance, drama and a wide range of art forms .through local clubs or after school programmes
  • access to 2 hours per week of sporting activity through either community activities, school or college
  • information, available through a range of media about the services and activities available to young people in Hackney
  • information, advice and guidance on education, employment and training, including one to one support from year 9 either in school or at the Connexions Shop
  • a guaranteed education or training opportunity when you leave school
  • opportunity to apply for support for clubs and activities through funds that are managed by young people
  • a chance to influence what is going on in Hackney by having your say and a chance to vote in and take part in the Hackney Youth Parliament
  • a chance to become involved in helping your community through properly managed volunteering opportunities
  • access to confidential advice and help for problems and concerns you may have
  • if you are not in education, employment or training after you leave school we will provide personalised support to help you”
