Hackney Carnival

The streets of Hackney are about to glam up with Hackney Carnival returning this Sunday 10 September. The day is set to be bursting with culture from all around the world as Hackney residents dance down our streets till we can’t dance anymore!

Hackney will be filled with carnival vibes from 12noon – 8pm, the day will include a live music stage in Gillett Square and day long celebrations on Ridley Road. Featuring international food stalls and four sounds systems, including Solution Sounds and NTS Live. So basically great food and great music all in one place?! We don’t think you want to miss this. And if you’re worried about your younger siblings cramping your style don’t be…the Hackney Playbus will be parked up in the Hackney Town hall Square all day so there’s plenty for them to engage in!

The parade will start from Queensbridge Road bridge over the Regents canal at 13:30pm, it will then move north where it will turn right onto Richmond Road and along Mare Street towards the Hackney Town Hall; before heading up Amhurst Road, past Ridley Road down Dalston Lane and finishing back at the junction between Queensbridge Road and Richmond Road at around 5pm.

“Hackney’s Carnival is special because it comes directly from the Hackney community, it has a lovely communal feel”

Pax Nindi, Founder of Global Carnival Centre and Hackney One Carnival Creative Director

Our favourite thing about Hackney Carnival is how it brings our community together. Regardless of age, gender or race we all come together and celebrate the cultures and differences that make our borough stand out. And we are so ready…see you there!
