I need a job!

As much as we love our borough… lets be real, it’s hard living in London. It’s very expensive and a lot of us don’t have the jobs to cover those expenses.

It is particularly hard as a young person living in here because we lack the experience often desired by a lot of employers. Simply because we literally, LITERALLY haven’t been living long enough to have a huge bank of transferrable skills and work experience. It’s an annoying loop and often leaves young people feeling discouraged and unemployed!

HOWEVER *queue the fireworks* we can help! We want to help you find jobs and career opportunities that interest you – so take these three simple steps in January and you’ll be ahead of the game:

  1. If you aren’t following the Young Hackney twitter feed yet, Follow @younghackney now! We regularly send out job and training opportunities – some of them exclusively for young people living in Hackney.
  2. Hackney Careers Fair! Hackney Community College are hosting a day filled of opportunity, giving you a chance to meet and talk to employers from different industries and see what steps you could take towards your career. Bring along some copies of your CV as some employers will be keen on taking them on the day. Wednesday 1 February, 13:00pm – 16:00pm, Falkirk Street N1 6HQ. Don’t miss out!
  3. Sign up with Ways into Work to get support with your job search and links to jobs and apprenticeships.
