A Lock is a Gate

posted by: Administrator

Sonic adventureLaburnum Boat Club have recorded an entire concept album with the help of artist Ruth Ewan, composer Kerry Andrew and poet Evlynn Sharp.

Forty members of the club created a part-real, part imagined sonic journey that takes you through Hackney from the Tube along the canal.

The work was inspired by a trip on a narrowboat from the club, up to and through the tunnel at Islington.

Live foreverThe nine tracks feature field recordings of the city and the water, snatches of poetry made up by the young people and songs inspired by the journey.

The group also created artwork for the album, some of which will be displayed on the escalators at Bethnal Green Tube Station - part of Transport for London's Art on the Underground series.
