Passionate about a better society? VOTE in the 2010 general election
Young people are often portrayed as apathetic and disinterested in politics, but we know young people care passionately about the issues that affect their lives. Voting is a crucial part of having a say in how society is run. Remember every vote counts!
If you are 18 on or before 6 May 2010, you are eligible to vote but you MUST be on the electoral register.
You can register to vote:
- In person: visit Electoral Services at Hackney Town Hall, Mare Street, E8 1EA, Mon - Fri 9-5pm [proof of address required]
- By post: contact Hackney Service Centre on 0208 356 3000 [Mon - Fri 9:00 - 5:00pm] to request an Electoral Registration Form. Alternatively, you can download the form here: http://www.hackney.gov.uk/electoral-registration-form.doc
The deadline for joining the electoral register is 20 April 2010 5pm. Voting takes place at polling stations across Hackney on 6th May 2010.
If you are 16 or 17 years old you can also join the electoral register any time throughout the year.
If you're interested in making Hackney a better place for young people, why not run as a candidate in October's YOUTH PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS. For more information about the Youth Parliament, click here.Alternatively, contact the Hackney Youth Service Participation team:
