Hidden harm: Is your parent or carer struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction?

Hidden harm is a term used to describe what happens when kids and teens like you (or someone you know) have a parent or caregiver struggling with alcohol and drug problems. It can affect you, even if you are not living in the same house, or if they are no longer drinking or using drugs.

It’s not your fault, you can’t control it, but you can get support.

If you’re worried about a family member’s or guardian’s drug or alcohol use, you can talk to our Substance Misuse Service.

Our Substance Misuse Service is open to anyone aged under 25, and they offer free and confidential advice and support.
