* Ask Ella

Ask Ella is a new Smartphone app, free to download on Android, Apple and Blackberry devices.  It  has been designed to enable you to research post-16 options and local opportunities available, e.g. courses at local schools, colleges and Training Providers. 

Searches are live, which means that any new results, e.g. new apprenticeships based on your saved search profile, will automatically update and notify you each time you access Ask Ella.

In addition to being an information source, the app also allows you to contact an Adviser for further, specific information or help.

Pre-apprenticeship programmes in Customer Service and Business Administration, providing the chance to gain qualifications in Functional Skills and Workskills, as well as building confidence so you are ready to enter the workplace.

City Gateway also offers sports training programmes from a foundational sports and active leisure qualification up to an advanced level 3 in personal fitness instructing.

* Dance United London Academy

Taster sessions on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 May.  Project starts Friday 16 May 2014.  The project runs Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm, until Thursday 17th July 2014.  This programme is suitable for learners aged between 14 – 25 who can wholly commit themselves between the above dates.

A contemporary dance programme, working towards an OCNLR qualification at Level 1 or 2 in Progression.  Apart from the exceptionally high quality contemporary dance training the programme offers participants the opportunity to teach primary school children, develop their own choreography as well as participate in numerous workshops and trips.  * Fifteen Apprenticeships

Eighteen apprentices will get hands-on training in the Fifteen kitchen, spend one day a week at college and go on sourcing trips to learn about food provenance. Applications for our new group of apprentices, due to start in September 2014, will take place on the Fifteen website between the 1 April and the 31 May. To be eligible, applicants must be: aged between 18 and 24 at the start of the programme, must be NEET (not in any education, employment or training) and have a qualification no higher than an NVQ Level 2 (or Level 1 in catering); able to commit to the course for the year and really, really, really interested in being a chef! Fifteen will be holding a series of open days at 6 Nile Street N1 7RF, on the following dates: Tuesday 25 March, 10.00am-12.00pm; Friday 4 April, 3.30pm-5.30pm; Friday 25 April, 10.00am – 12.00pm; Wednesday 30 April, 3.30pm-5.30pm; Wednesday 7 May, 10am-12pm To reserve your place on one of these dates, contact 0203 375 5539 or e-mail

* Get Digital programme

For 16 – 25 year olds currently out of work and not in training or education. The Prince's Trust and Accenture – one of the world’s leading management consulting and technology services organisations – are offering a four-week programme which includes 2 weeks’ training, followed by 2 weeks’ practical work experience in the digital industry.Programme will take place in St Pauls. Information Day – 18 March or 26 March. Taster Day – 27 March. Main Programme –  31 March – 29 April 2013. * It's Like This

A  new programme in Hackney, in which you pitch for real, paid, commercial design projects with growing local businesses, based at Netil House and Hackney Downs Studio. For ages 18 – 24, Young people must be doing a maximum of 8hrs/week paid work or 16 hrs/week of study and studying or hold a minmum of NVQ level 3 in graphic design, fine art, web design, illustration or photography. * Bootcamp Events Training

Eight week course leading to Bronze Arts Award qualification – hands-on event experience and potential for progression into paid employment. Wednesdays 5.00 – 7.00pm from 9 April at Bootstrap Company, Dalston E8 3Dl. For information see the Young Hackney site  

* Springboard Training

Free programme available to anyone aged 16-18. Courses run for 6-12 months. Includes: Childcare & Business Administration Level 1 & 2; Functional Skills (Maths, English & ICT); Personal and Social Development & Employability; Work Experience. * Paid internships at City Firms 

Up to 100 places available through the City of London Business Traineeship scheme. Work placements last up to 13 weeks over the summer and trainees will have the opportunity to develop skills in a variety of sectors including banking, insurance, legal and human resources. * Metropole Learning

Metropole Learning is offering 19 – 24 year olds the opportunity to earn a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) and on-the-job paid training via an Apprenticeship in any of the following sectors:

* DV8 Foundation Course in Fashion

DV8 has limited spaces on their Fashion and Styling Foundation Level 1 course.

The course will give you the skills to:

  • Create your own brand
  • Design, customize and create a line of caps, T-shirts & accessories
  • Design and produce designer outfits
  • Set up a website to sell your designs.

You'll have your designs modelled at the DV8 Eastside Stories Fashion Show on the 9 July and there's a chance that top UK artists will model for you - Lady Ny, Griminal and Code Red + you'll get a double-page spread of your new line in RWD Magazine - distributed in JD Sports.

You could earn the following qualifications:

  • NCFE level 1 award in Creative Craft Fashion
  • NCFE level 1 award in Creative Craft Jewellery
  • NCFE level 1 award in Creative Craft Dressmaking
  • NCFE level 1 award in Personal and Social Development

* DV8 Music Production/Performance

Foundation courses leading to qualifications. These courses are available to 16-19 year olds who are not in education, employment or training and who have not achieved 5 A - C Grades at GCSE.

  • Music performance - develop key performance, vocal and songwriting skills, you will also learn how to work in the industry and promote your work. Leads to NCFE Level 1 Award.
  • Music Production - learn about marketing, promotion and the business side of the music industry. Also a chance to present your demo to leading UK A&R. Leads to NCFE Level 1 Award.
