Hackney Live – Live Lounge

Industry professionals joined young up and coming musicians across Hackney to stream an hour of live music for the borough’s first ever Hackney Live – Friday Live Lounge!

Taking place at the Rising Tide Studio on Mare Street, which has be graced by famous artists such as Labrinth, young people were given training by Mercury nominated artist TY who worked on improving their skills before the live performance on Friday 29 September. As well as performance training, the young people involved were also given a social media master class on their own personal brand as a musician. The session was delivered by Urban MBA and included valuable tips and techniques on how to work the digital world to your advantage as an artist.

“I’ve learnt so much I that social media master class honestly…It’s blown my mind.”

Young artist, Shanique Spencer

The performers got to put all their new social media knowledge into practice during the live stream when viewers sent it questions through Facebook Live and Twitter. Which the artists responded to in real time, the questions came from viewers across the world including Germany and America.

Because the live Lounge was such a hit! It will now be an on-going opportunity for young artists in Hackney to take part in, yep…you read right! Loads more young artists are going to get the opportunity to take part in a live streamed studio performance.

“I would encourage all young, up and coming artists to take part in this, I have learnt so much and I am so thankful to Rising Tide and Hackney Live for giving me this opportunity”

Young artist, Rio Cavelle
