NEXT STEPS

Congratulations to all our young hackney students for completing your GCSEs and A-levels, we are so proud of you all!

Firstly, exams are hard. *dramatic pause for how hard exams can be* You all nailed it just for completing them! It takes a lot of revision, commitment, late nights, early mornings, bags under eyes and no social life days to get through exam period. And you got through it! We salute you all for your amazing efforts.

So results day can be a mixed bag of emotions, the nerves and relief of finally opening that envelope after years of hard work can be a super overwhelming moment. And if you didn’t get the grades you quite wanted it can be even more overwhelming. This is where the tears, anger, disappointment and sadness can all come in, to try and convince you that you are somehow less great than you are.

Well guess what…chin up! Because you are still great, you are still capable and this does not have to define the rest of your life. If those grades didn’t quite make it for that college or university place, it’s okay because there are still loads of routes to get to where you want to be.

NEXT STEPS is a support day dedicated to helping young people figure out what it is they want to do after results day. Local colleges and apprenticeship providers will be there so you can find out more about the opportunities available to you in our borough and London wide. So if you are 16-19 and need some support, advice or just need to chat we’ve got you, come down to the event on 1 September.

Where: Forest Road Youth Hub, 29 Forest Road, E8 3BY

Time: 14:00-18:00pm
