In response to findings in the ‘Hackney Wick Through Young Eyes’ report, highlighting a lack of amenities for young people in the area, we’ve developing a multi-use sports facility for young people behind the Old Baths on Eastway in Hackney Wick.
Young people have been involved at all stages of the design and planning process and their ideas are reflected in the final designs for the classroom and the name of the facility – Young Hackney Eastway. It includes a new multi-use sports area, classroom, office, toilets, storage area for local groups to use and a courtyard.
Eastway is available for use seven days a week, 9am to 9pm.
Term time – Monday to Friday
9am to 3pm: school based activities and programmes
3pm to 9pm: a varied programme of sport and physical activities for young people
Monday to Friday, 9am to 9pm: the facility will be used exclusively for activities for children and young people
Saturday and Sunday:
available for community group use (managed and booked through Young Hackney)
Eastway is available for community youth groups to use – it’s free (at the Council’s discretion) as long as:
the activity benefits Hackney’s children and young people
