Ten Years of Young Hackney

A message from Deputy Mayor Anntoinette Bramble, Cabinet Member for Education, Young People and Children’s Social Care:

“The young people in our borough have shown incredible resilience and adaptability. They have adapted to change in the midst of uncertainty during the pandemic. Many have dealt with disrupted education, loss of loved ones, not seeing family and friends and witnessed events that highlighted the impact of racism –  George Floyd’s murder and more recently racist abuse of football players.

We wanted to organise a summer to celebrate our young people. This was also an opportunity to reconnect the community and let people know we are here and share what Young Hackney does.

There was an array of activities to choose, from DJ and dance workshops, cooking, eating sessions, and athletics. I had so much fun this summer joining young people in some of the activities with the Mayor and Cllr Woodley.”
